Eminem is one of the best-selling artists in music history, and that became wholly apparent as he entered his fourth decade. At 30, Em had just released The Eminem Show, another multi-platinum smash. Mostly produced by him, it showcased him effortlessly balancing Marshall Mathers and Slim Shady with a compelling delivery. The album went on to win him a third Grammy for Best Rap Album.

Outside of music, Eminem was beginning an acting career. But at the same time, he was battling a drugs habit that became uncontrollable. During the filming of8 Mile, his addiction to prescription pills grew. He toldRolling Stone in a 2011 interview, “We were doing 16 hours on the set, and you had a certain window where you had to sleep. One day somebody gave me an Ambien, and it knocked me the fuck out. I was like, 'I need this all the time.'

50 Cent says Eminem collaboration is possible and he mentions never-before-released "Relapse 2" songs.

"My favorite music from that period (2009 when Eminem's 'Relapse' was released) was on 'Relapse 2,' but it never came out,"...."He ended up going to 'Recovery' because he didn’t like the response he got from 'Relapse."

"We got probably enough material around that we could probably put out an EP or something like that - me and him did just over the years."

A common theme for sophomore albums is to focus on the artist's struggles with the pressures of fame and fortune following their newfound success. Based on the raw emotion and technique alone, this is Eminem's most complete body of work.

Complex MUSIC ranks Eminem's song "Kim" at #4 on "The 25 Most Depressing Rap Songs".

Eminem has a deeply visceral discography. He drives a fictional fan to murder and suicide on "Stan." He publicly blasts his mother's parenting skills on "Cleanin' Out My Closet." But no record of his is more disturbing than "Kim," in which he kills his daughter's mother (and her new boyfriend and stepson) of the same name. The sting of betrayal from his ex-wife leaves its mark all over the record—the chorus is an extended painful yelp—and even with the fact that none of this really happened in mind, the violence is still jarring.

Skylar Grey admits being nervous to work with Eminem and also talks about him working on the her upcoming album.

“I was really nervous when I first met him but then I came to realize that he’s super cool,”…“He makes fun of me and makes me laugh a lot.”

“That can be a tough thing to do when you write a lot of songs. And then making suggestions of where he thinks I can improve bits,”…“[He's] doing whatever he thinks will add to the project. It’s awesome to have somebody there that I can trust to bounce stuff off of and get good feedback.”
